Arsenal receive massive blow ahead of clash with table toppers

arsenal

Yesterday the undefeated streak of Arsenal this season came to an end. Bournemouth raided Gunners and took all three points away from them. William Saliba received red card which has raised the problems for Arsenal ahead of their match against Liverpool.

William Saliba comitted a foul on Evanilson and hence was shown a yellow card at first. But, the VAR revised the decision as it was a last man foul and hence Saliba was sent off. The hosts then scored 2 goals in the second half and Arsenal dropped 3 crucial points.

Both Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber were absent yesterday due to injury concerns. There is no update available about their return against Liverpool next week. In addition, Mikel Arteta has now received another blow.

Saliba to miss clash against Liverpool next week

Gunners will take on Liverpool who are currently the Premier League table toppers. Saliba will miss the match due to suspension after getting sent off yesterday. He will play in the UCL fixture against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Liverpool are in a top form under new manager Arne Slot. They have conceded the least goals (2) than anyone else this season. In addition, their attack is really well and has added 13 goals to tally in 7 matches.

Arsenal will find it really hard to restrict Liverpool without Saliba. It will be interesting to see what Arteta comes up with and wheter he is able to pass the tough test. It will also be intersting to see who plays in Saliba’s position.

As of now, it seems very likely that Riccardo Calafiori will star the game as centre back. Jurrien Timber is still out injured and there is no update available about it. If Timber is fit he may play as a left back or else Jakun Kiwior could be seen operating that flank.

Mikel Arteta can place all his faith in Calafiori. Despite losing, the Italian defender was very good yesterday. He won 100% tackles, 57% ground duels and 67% ariel duels. Lastly, he also made 1 block, 6 clearances and 2 recoveries. He played most of the match as centre back. All stats as per FOTMOB.
