Arsenal had a very decent summer transfer window this time. They were able to 5 players and also parted way with many of their existing stars. As per the recent news, Arsenal rejected two deals from Barcelona who were keen to sign Gabriel Martinelli.
Martinelli has been a key player for Gunners since he joined them in 2019. He has played 184 matches for them and has scored 43 goals along with picking up 24 assists. He was unable to impact the game in recent times but has now finally regained his top form.
Martinelli was on Barca’s radar this summer
FC Barcelona were keen to sign a left winger this summer. They wanted to sign Nico Williams after viewing his solid attacking pairing with Lamine Yamal. But Williams had other plans and opted to stay at Athletic Club. He even signed a new contract which keeps him at the club until 2027.
Barca had another plan after the deal for Williams ending in failure. As per Football365, Hansi Flick made Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli his top target. Gunners decided to reject the offers as they consider Martinelli a key player. They also rejected two Barca players who were offered in swap deal.
Arsenal rejected two Barcelona players
Barca were finding it hard to pay the desired fee and hence offered two of their players to Arsenal. Firstly, they offered Ferran Torres who joined Barca in 2022 from Manchester City. Gunners straight away said no to the offer.
But Barca were not ready to give up and hence offered another player. This time they were ready to send former Chelsea defender Christensen in the other directions. Gunners already have a very good defence and hence they said no to this offer too.
Martinelli is viewed as a key player behind Arsenal’s rise in recent years. He has two goals and two assists in his last three Premier League matches.
