Arsenal are said to miss out on their top target in summer. They can only sign the target if they are able to send some of the exisiting stars away from the club.

The star in question here is Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. Gunners are big admirers of the Sweden international. However, the Magpies are happy with Isak and are unwilling to the let the striker leave.

Arsenal still have hopes to land Isak due to some circumstances. Earlier, Isak was offered a new contract which he rejected. He wanted to be the top earner at the club and also wanted a release clause in his contract.

Later, it was revealed that Isak wants to play regularly in Champions League. This resulted in him getting linked very heavily with an away move. Gunners were and still are the frontrunners in the race to sign him.

Recently, Arsenal were said to revive their interest in Isak this summer. However, they would require to empty their pockets in order to land Isak. The Magpies are in very strong position to demand hefty fee for their striker.

Isak has been in superb form since last season. He ended the last season with 25 goals and already has 15 goals this season. The Magpies are demanding more than £100 million for him and Isak is said to become the British transfer record signing if he moves away in summer.

Arsenal said to miss out on signing Isak in summer

According to Craig Hope, Gunners cannot afford to sign Isak in summer. Hope has reported that Stan Kroenke will not sanction a move unless Gunners part ways with some of their exisiting stars.

As of now, Zinchenko and Jesus are linked with away moves. In addition, Jorginho who will be out of contract at the end of the season is linked with Brazilian club Palmeiras.

Lastly, Hope reported that there are no talks ongoing between Isak and Newcastle over a new contract. However, this may change if the Magpies qualify for UCL next season. Isak may stay at Newcastle if he is being provided with Champions League football.
