Arsenal paid a visit to Tottenham in the game week 4 of the Premier League. The North London derby could have really gone either ways. But, Mikel Arteta and his side came out on the top at the end. Odds were pretty much against the Gunners. Spurs already had the home advantage. Then, Declan Rice was out due to suspension for the away side. To make matters worse, the Gunners were without their captain Martin Odegaard. The lack of creativity on the field was very visible from the away side. But, they still managed to pick up 3-vital points in match day 4. As a result, they now sit at the 2nd spot in the league table.

Arsenal beat Tottenham in the North London derby

Spurs started the game very brightly. They also created plenty of chances. But, they were unable to take any of them. On the other hand, the Gunners were very resilient at the back. It was always going to be a tight game. And then, it was. Only a goal was able to separate the two sides. Gabriel scored the winner for the travelling side. As per theguardian, Arsenal managed to suffocate Tottenham throughout the game. And, towards the end of the game, Spurs were out of ideas. They simply did not know how to break through the defense. As a result, they ended up losing the game.

What makes this win so special for Arteta?

The result itself is a big one when you consider the context of the Premier League title. At the same time, the win will instill confidence in Arteta’s side. They were able to beat a top team despite many crucial players being absent. Also, Liverpool already dropped points yesterday. So, Man City are the only team with a 100% record now. If the Gunners really want to give themselves a chance to lift the title, they can’t afford to give City any breathing room. A win for Arsenal against Tottenham helped them just do that. The Gunners are now only 2-points behind the league leaders.
