Arsenal set to bolster defence in January

Gunners are planning to sign a defender in January. The current crises in defence have forced Arsenal to make defender a top priority in transfer market.

Arsenal had the best defence in Premier League last season. They expected the same this season too. But, this time they have been haunted with constant injuries.

Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kieran Tierney are still out due to injury. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior have fallen down the pecking order and don’t play regularly. In the recent days the injury crises have increased for Gunners.

Riccardo Calafiori missed the game against Liverpool due to injury. Jurrien Timber was not fully fit but still started the game. Arteta had to play Ben White as centre back due to absence of Saliba. He was then forced to use Thomas Partey as a right back.

Later in the second half, Gabriel got injured which scared the Arsenal fans. After some time they lost their lead and as a result dropped two points. Now, this crises have forced Gunners to sign a defender as soon as possible.

Arsenal to strengthen defence mid-season

Former Man United, West Ham and Tottenham scout Mick Brown thinks Arsenal have made defender their top priority. He is sure about his comments as he thinks Gunners can’t win Premier League title with lack of defensive depth.

“They are definately going to enter the transfer market. After Gabriel’s injury, the transfer team will be working overtime. They have already been looking at options to help the depth in that position” – Mick Brown speaking to Football Insider.

Later Brown said that Saliba and Gabriel are very important for the team. He added that Arteta will not like to see his defence lacking quality if any one of them is absent. He also said that defence is the reason why Gunners have became a force.

Lastly, the former United scout said the defence which ended game against Liverpool can’t win the league title. Brown is highly experienced and hence we can think that Arsenal board and scouts are also thinking the same. This says that we may see them making a move for defender in January for sure.
