The gunners paid £45m transfer fees for the midfield maestro Thomas Partey. Now they want to sell him to vacate the squad.
Why Arsenal want to sell Thomas Partey?
According to TEAMTALK Juventus and several Saudi clubs (Al Ahli, Al Hilal, Al Nasser, Al Ittihad) are interested in Arsenal midfield maestro Thomas Partey. In 2023-2024 season, the Ghana international was suffering from injuries. He played 16 games for Arsenal in the 2023-2024 season. So, he was not able to deliver the expected performance. On top of that he was getting less game time.

In the first season Thomas Partey shined for Arsenal. He was their main anchoring midfield player. The 31 year old was proficient in attacking as well as in defensive transitions. Gradually he became a leader at the midfield position. As he suffered injuries, he missed a couple of games and he was not able to perform in the world-class level. So, the club signed midfielders like Declan Rice, Jorginho to fill the void. As the new players started to perform well, the fans forgot about their old midfield leader.
Details about the potential sale of Thomas Partey
According to TEAMTALK Arsenal can get £20-25m from the sale of 31 years old Ghana international and it is being said that the player has also agreed a transfer to a Saudi club. The player has one more year in his Arsenal contract which will end at 2025. £20-25m transfer fee is enough for a 30 above player who is injury-prone.
Who will fill the void?
It is being said that Arsenal want to sign Real Sociaded midfielder Zubimendi. The gunners have been informed about his transfer value which is roughly around €60m but the possibility of this deal is quite low because Manchester City and Barcelona is also interested in the player. And the player is said to be content in Real Sociadad. But there is a twist. Manchester City has a plan B. According to TEAMTALK if they fail to sign Zubimendi, City will go for Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen.
On this transfer saga of Zubimendi Fabrizio Romano said, “We keep hearing a lot of stories about Martin Zubimendi, who has been linked several times mostly with Arsenal and Barcelona, while some outlets are now stating that he is unlikely to leave Real Sociedad as he is happy and settled in his hometown and not looking to leave the Basque region. However, my understanding remains is that this is not decided yet. Zubimendi’s future, his decision, is still not clear yet – it remains an open situation, and he has a €60m release clause.“
