Arsenal are on the verge of losing two players for free next year. The two players are Jorginho and Thomas Partey. But, Arsenal should really consider to offer Thomas Partey a contract extension as he has been extremely important for them this season.
Arsenal are sitting on the fourth position in the Premier League. They could have been way more up only if it was not for injuries. Gunners have faced injury blows in all positions including midfield.
Mikel Merino who joined the North London club this summer was immediately injured. Hence his debut was postponed and it gave Thomas Partey an opportunity to prove himself.
The Ghanaian has been very important for Mikel Arteta so far. But, the player will be running out of contract at the end of the season.
Many top clubs have already been linked with move for Partey but it feels like Arsenal should do all in their power to avoid losing the player for free.
Should Arsenal offer Thomas Partey a contract extension?
Gunners are on the verge of losing Jorginho and Partey for free. It will be hard to lose two experienced players playing in same position at the same time. Hence, the club should rethink their decision.
Partey has been very important this season. He has stayed injury free and has started all 11 Premier League games this season. He has played as a right back when required displaying his versatility.
Partey is still 31 and surely has some more years to offer at the highest level. He can provide the squad with important experience which can be extremely beneficial for development of young players.
Arsenal should offer Partey a short term contract. They offered Jorginho 1 year extension this summer and can now do the same with Partey. But it will also depend on Ghanaian as he will demand a long term contract.
As per the report from The Sun, Gunners will not make major signings in January. Hence, handing Partey an extension seems likes the best possible option at the moment. Otherwise, the player will be open to discuss his future with foreign clubs in January.
