Arsenal showing interest in out-of-favour Chelsea star

Arsenal are showing interest in Chelsea star ahead of summer window. The player has fallen out of favour at West London. He was keen to move away in January itself and now the Blues are ready to let him leave.

The star in question here is Christopher Nkunku who joined Chelsea in 2023. In his first season, he suffered a serious injury. As a result, he was able to play only 14 matches. This gave Cole Palmer a perfect chance to make the number ten position his own.

Nkunku returned to full fitness at the start if this season. But, he has not been able to start regularly above other stars. In addition, he has been used by Enzo Maresca in unnatural positions. As a result, the 27 year old has expressed his desire of moving away.

Nkunku was keen to leave in the January window. But, the Blues demanded around £60 million for. No club showed interest in spending that much which resulted in the Frenchman staying at Chelsea. But, the Blues are now said to have lowered their fee to £40 million in order to raise funds for new signings.

According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal are showing interest in Nkunku ahead of summer window. Mikel Arteta wants more firepower in his final third. This make the Frenchman a perfect target for them due to his versatality and experience.

Gunners want a left winger who can play above Gabriel Martinelli. But, they also want him to serve as backup for both Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. Nkunku can perform in all of this positions and hence he can be great addition to the North London side.

Along with Arsenal, there are multiple other clubs showing interest in Nkunku. Earlier, he was heavily linked to Bayern Munich who may re-enter the market. But, Arsenal too have other options available in the market. Their top target is still Spanish winger Nico Williams.
