Arsenal star seizes opportunity in Odegaard’s absense

Arsenal have claimed all three points against Leicester City after working very hard. They were able to score 4 goals and concede 2. Gunners took the advantage of Manchester City’s slip up in afternoon against Newcastle United. They are now sitting at the 3rd position in the Premier League with 14 points. But, the scenario for Arsenal would have been very different if it was not for Leandro Trossard who started the match in the injured Gunners captain Martin Odegaard’s position.

Gunners scored 2 goals in the first half against Leicester. Gabriel Martinelli was capitalize on the assist provided by Jurrien Timber in the 20th minute. Martinelli scored his first goal of 2024/25 season. He later assisted Leandro Trossard in the first minute of additional time given in first half.

Arsenal were unable to keep their lead intact as their solid defence was breached two times in second half. James Justin scored a brace and was close to take 2 points away from Arsenal.

The game was headed to draw but Trossard was able to turn things around in the additional time. In the 4th minute of additional time, Trossard sent the corner ball from Saka at the Leicester goal post. Firstly, the goal was awarded to Trossard but later it counted as an own goal.

Lastly, Kai Havertz scored the fourth goal for Arsenal in the 9th minute of additional time. Gunners were able to enjoy all three points in a hard earned victory which has certainly tasted sweet to Arsenal fans at last.

Trossard fills void left by Martin Odegaard

Arsenal have struggled in the absence of Martin Odegaard in the recent times. But Mikel Arteta has been able to have an amazing eye for replacements. He has been playing Leandro Trossard in Odegaard’s position and it is surely paying off.

Trossard was the second highest rated player in the match. Firstly, he was awarded his second goal which was later announced as an own goal.
