One Arsenal star has sparked exit rumours ahead of summer transfer window. The player was spotted in new club’s city where he is believed to have held talks about signing contract.
The star in question here is Jorginho who joined Gunners from Chelsea in January 2023. The Italian played a key role for Arteta in his first 1.5 years at North London. He was then offered another year of contract extension. But, the situation will not be the same this time.
Jorginho will be out of contract this summer. He is now 33 years old and the North London club are open to let him leave for free. The Italian was heavily linked with away move in January. However, Gunners opted to keep him to maintain squad depth.
Jorginho was linked with Brazilian club Flamengo. The Italian seems to have impressed with the offer. According to Now Arsenal, he was recently spotted in Rio De Janeiro. The player said that he is only in Brazil for vacation but the reports state otherwise.
Jorginho is said to agree a three year contract with Flamengo. This will help him to play in Fifa Club World Cup for the Brazilian club. Gunners will now have a big task on their shoulders to replace the Italian in summer.
Who will Arsenal sign as replacement for Jorginho?
As of now, Martin Zubimendi is the top priority of the North London club. Gunners failed to sign him last summer but are believed to get the deal done this summer. They will need to trigger the player’s €60 million release clause.
In addition to Zubimendi, Gunners are also heavily linked with Bruno Guimaraes. But, it will be very hard for any club to sign the Newcastle United captain. The Magpies are likely to demand more than €100 million for the Brazilian.
