Arsenal are keen to sign a Spanish star this summer. But, they are now reported to have stopped the negotiations. It is due to the one particular demand of the Spain international.
Gunners are set for a major summer transfer window. They are set to make new signings in almost all parts of the area. But, Mikel Arteta wants to make attacking signings their top priority for the summer. The Arsenal board is ready to back him and bring in new striker and winger.
As for striker, Gunners are now said to be very close to signing Viktor Gyokeres. They have appointed Andrea Berta as the new sporting director. The Italian has already held talks with the representatives of Gyokeres who are said to have been happy after initial talks.
As for winger, Gunners have Nico Williams as their top target. They tried to sign him last summer after the 22 year old impressing them in Euro 2024. However, the deal never materialized and hence Williams had to stay at Athletic Club.
Gunners did not give up on Williams and kept their interest alive. Earlier, the player gave green light to his representatives to hold talks with North London club. However, Gunners are now reported to have stopped the talks after listening to the demanda of the winger.
Arsenal stop talks to sign Nico Williams
According to El Nacional via Football Transfers, Gunners have ended their talks with Nico Williams. The 22 year old demanded to be the highest paid player at the North London club. This has not went well with the people at Arsenal who have now stopped the talks.
Arsenal are ready to trigger the €58 million release clause for Nico Williams. But, they are not ready to make him the highest paid player just yet. This may result in the 22 year old joining other club but Gunners will hope that he lowers his demands as Mikel Arteta is big fan of the player.
