Arsenal striker transfer on the way – Edu ‘agrees’

Arsenal Sporting Director Edu is pacing up his plans for the summer ahead of the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season. Arsenal striker deal is underway.

21-year-old striker, Mika Biereth looks all set to leave Arsenal. The youngster is moving to the Austrian club Sturm Graz on a permanent deal.

The 21-year-old joined Arsenal back in 2021. Regardless, Biereth found it hard to come in Arteta’s mix of play and was loaned out in the second half of the last season to the Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz. There the young forward scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists in his 22 appearances for the side.

After this. Biereth saw another amazing time with Scottish Premiership side Motherwell during the first half of the campaign, where the forward bagged six goals and provided five assists.

This form has created a lot of speculation surrounding the future of the Arsenal player. Furthermore, his contract expires next summer and brilliant performances away from the Emirates lead to only one conclusion.

And the conclusion as reported by The Athletic, the Gunners have agreed to a permanent transfer deal worth £4 million. The striker will be going to Sturm Graz and the deal will most probably include a sell-on clause. Meaning, that Arsenal will profit from any future sale. Moreover, the deal is believed to be a record fee for the Austrian Club.

Regardless, Arsenal will make a considerable profit from the sale of Mika Biereth who joined the club in July 2021 from Fulham.

Biereth happy at Sturm Graz

Mika Biereth talks only positively about the Austrian side. They are getting ready to play Champions League football next season after winning the Austrian Bundesliga.

“I was in Scotland playing for Motherwell and then my agent rang me and said there was an opportunity to come to Austria and fight for a title in the league and the cup,” Biereth told the official Arsenal website.

“I spoke to Per [Mertesacker] before the move, discussed it, what he thought, what I thought, and to me it was almost a no-brainer. This is the best level I’ve played at so far in terms of being a part of the squad and playing every match day. The players here are really good and really talented.

“We’ve got a really good mix of young players, old players, people from Austria, people from abroad, so there’s some senior players like Greggy [Wuthrich] who have really helped me out a lot and then the two lads that speak English from Scotland and Liverpool, Vit [Jaros] and Max [Johnston] helped me settle in a lot, so it doesn’t feel like I’ve only been here for three months because I feel like I’m quite close with all the boys.

“The first impressions of the club were really positive. Everyone at the club, from the players to the staff to the sporting director, everyone is really warm and welcoming. The most important thing is that they’re good at football as well on the pitch.”

Biereth confident in himself

In an interview with i News, Biereth talked about himself and compared himself to the likes of Haaland and Kane:

“I’ve said before if I can compare myself to another player I’d say hybrid of them (Haaland and Kane), at a much worse level! Like Haaland, all I really care about is scoring goals. If you’d offer me two touches of the ball and two goals I’d have that. For me, it’s all about scoring goals.”

Further, the 21-year-old explained his approach to the game:

“There are different aspects of the game when scoring goals isn’t possible when the ball is deep so then it’s about combining, linking the play, holding the ball up like Kane does. Those are the two different variables on the pitch.”

Although Biereth is a striker in the Arsenal squad, his leaving won’t affect the team dynamics that much. However, it is well understood that a lot of ins and outs are bound to happen in the upcoming weeks. Nketiah was said to be leaving the club and Edu will be a lot busy now trying to strengthen the forward line.
