Arsenal have been handed a huge blow in the pursuit of one midfielder. The star in question is very close to signing a new contract with his current club.
Gunners will be in high need to sign midfielders next year. As of now, their two main players – Thomas Partey and Jorginho are set to leave at the end of the season. This will open up space which should be filled immediately.
Over the recent months, Gunners have been linked with many midfielders. Some of them are new targets which some of them have intrest from the North London club since long time. One of the linked stars is Tijjani Reijnders of AC Milan.
Arsenal receive blow in the pursuit of Reijnders
Earlier it was reported by Fichajes that Gunners are interested in signing Reijnders. The 26 year old had interest from many top clubs due to his superb form. But now, Football Insider have reported that he is very close to sign a new contract with AC Milan.
Reijnders has been one of the best midfielders in the world this season. He has 9 goals and 2 goals in 23 games for Milan this season. In addition, he is now the regular starter for Netherlands national team.
AC Milan are very happy with the 26 year old and hence have taken a big step of extending his contract. His current contract was set to expire in 2028 and now Milan are planning to make him untouchable.
Arsenal will now have to look at someone else in order to improve their midfield. Reijnders was also being linked with Man City recently. City will be very active in the market due to their dip in performances this season. Both City and Arsenal are also linked with Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad.
