Arsenal target Villa star who will running out of his contract

Arsenal are determined to improve their squad and are looking to make a move for Aston Villa youngster. The player in discussion is Oliwier Zych who is 20 years old.

Gunners were planning to sign a backup keeper this summer. It was because they parted ways with Aaron Ramsdale. Ramsdale joined Southampton in search of regular gametime as he was far too good to sit on the bench.

Arsenal then tried to sign Joan Garcia but decided to not go for him. Garcia’s club demanded €25 million at first which was later raised to €30 million. As a result, Gunners were unable to find a backup keeper.

Arsenal then signed Norberto Neto on loan. But, he is only the short term solution and will leave the club next year. Gunners are now planning to make a move for Aston Villa’s youth goalkeeper.

Gunners plotting a move for Oliwier Zych

As reported by The Telegraph, Oliwier Zych has been looked upon by Gunners along with Brighton. Aston Villa signed Arsenal youth keeper Owen Asemota this summers and now Gunners can do the same. They may face competition from other clubs but can attract the keeper with an lucrative offer.

Zych will be out of his current contract in 2025. But, Gunners will still need to pay Villa some money as compensation. The same happened when Villa signed Asemota who’s contract was expired. Gunners still earned £1 million as a compensation fee.

Zych could be an important player at North London. He is still very young and will save Arsenal a lot of money and eventually can develop into first choice keeper. Zych has been with Villa first team sometimes this season but has not yet made his first team debut. He has played regularly for the youth teams and showcased his high quality.
