One Arsenal target is keen to move away from his current club in summer transfer window. He is willing to leave despite signing a new contract just 2 days ago. This will come as a massive boost for Gunners.
Arsenal started this transfer window with a hope of signing some attacking stars. But, they were unable to sign any new player due to the complex situations. Most of their targets are playing key role for their respective clubs and hence were made unavailable in the market.
The only offer Gunners made was of £40 million for Ollie Watkins. However, that too was quickly rejected by Aston Villa who were demanding around £60 million. As a result, Mikel Arteta has to finish this season with the available stars.
It will surely be a busy summer transfer for Arsenal. They have already received major boost as one of their target is keen to leave his current club. As per Football Insider, Matheus Cunha wants to leave Wolves despite signing a new contract only 2 days ago.
Can Arsenal sign Cunha in summer?
Matheus Cunha wants to join a bigger club in the next season and hence is open for a summer move. Wolves are missing out on all European competitions and in addition, are even in relegation battle right now. It will be hard for them to keep hold of Cunha for longer duration.
Cunha has £62.5 million release clause included in his new contract. This clause will be activated from summer. Arsenal will need to pay it fully as Wolves will not accept a lower fee. They have the Brazilian tied with new contract until 2029 and hence are in strong position when it comes to negotiations.
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal retain their interest in Cunha after the end of the season. No doubt the player is in top form but Mikel Arteta is also keen to sign Nico Williams. In addition, the North London club are also in need of striker and midfielders.
