Arsenal are very close to complete their first deal of this month’s transfer window. They are said to be in serious talks with Spanish club over the potential deal.
The deal in question here is an exit of Oleksandr Zinchenko from the North London club. The 28 year old is made available for the transfer by Gunners. He has fallen down the pecking order and is now a surplus for the squad.
Zinchenko has started just 2 Premier League games this season. Gunners are very strong on the left-back side. Calafiori is first choice left-back whereas Timber is second-choice. In addition, Myles Lewis-Skelly has decreased Zinchenko’s chances even further.
Firstly, Inter Milan were linked with the Ukrainian. Later, Dortmund joined who have missed out of Renato Veiga. Lastly, Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have joined the race who may be in pole position to land the 28 year old.
Florian Plettenberg reported that Atletico are keen to sign Zinchenko. He added that the Spanish giants are in serious talks with the North London club. The 28 year old is keen to leave the club and a deal of around €20 million plus add-ons can occur.
Arsenal to benefit highly from Zinchenko’s sale
As said above, Zinchenko is surplus for Arsenal at the moment. His sale will have multiple benefits for the club. Firstly, it will open up space and help them comply with PSR as well. In addition, they can use the money earned from the deal to improve other areas of the pitch.
As of now, Arsenal are very likely to make signings in the final third. The time to secure a striker or a winger in January is very fastly running out. If Gunners receive €20 million from Zinchenko deal they can directly use that to sign someone like Sesko or Cunha.
