- Arsenal are once again linked with Martin Zubimendi
- The player maybe open to leave Real Sociedad in summer
- However, Gunners will face a heavy competition for the Spaniard from their Premier League rivals
Martin Zubimendi was heavily linked with a move to Premier League this summer. Two clubs namely Arsenal and Liverpool were keen to sign the Spaniard who played an important role in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph.
Gunners then shifted their target and signed Zubimendi’s Real Sociedad and Spain teammate Mikel Merino instead. Arsenal were happy with their midfield options and hence did not make any more signings.
Zubimendi was then very heavily linked with a move to Liverpool. The Reds were interested to sign him and made a move too. But the 25 year old snubbed them and opted to stay at Spain.
Recently, the midfielder is once again linked with a move to Premier League. Arsenal are still the front runners but now have to face a very heavy competition from their English rivals.
Arsenal to face heavy competition for Martin Zubimendi
As per CaughtOffside, Gunners will face competition from Liverpool and Man City. City are the latest club to be linked with 25 year old due to their current crises. This has raised the Arsenal’s chances of losing out on their target.
Firstly, Gunners are in need to sign midfielder very soon. They have already felt the need this season due to injuries. In addition, Jorginho and Partey are in the final year of their contract. As of now, they both are very likely to leave for free.
Liverpool are doing really well without Zubimendi. Gravenberch and Curtis Jones are playing really well and hence Arne Slot mah not go for another player. But, it is not wise to rule out the possibility due the club’s long term interested in Spaniard.
Lastly, Man City are in desperate need to sign Rodri’s replacement. Ever since Rodri got injured, City have not been same. They have dropped points across all formats and are looking very weak. They may view Zubimendi to replace Rodri just as he did in the Euro 2024 final.
