AC Milan keen to extend the contract of the Ivorian star Franck Kessie, which is set to expire in 2022. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing AC Milan’s £45 million rated Franck Kessie. The deep-lying midfielder was linked with a move to the Emirates last summer as well.
Kessie nearly left for city rivals Inter last January. Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte is an admirer of the midfielder but a swap deal couldn’t be agreed with Vecino.
He has formed an impressive partnership with former Arsenal youth Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali. He has been a key player for AC Milan this season.
Milan signed Kessie permanently from Atalanta BC for a £24 million deal in 2019 after a 2-year loan. His value skyrocketed from £25million to £45million in space of 4 months.
According to Calciomercato, Premier League clubs may try to swoop in on the midfielder. But chances of him leaving are slim, as all parties are interested in extending Kessie’s stay beyond 2022.
Calciomercato quotes that “Kessie wanted Milan in difficult moments, now even more.”
Kessie speaking to BBC Sport Africa:
“I have never even thought of leaving the club and no one here asked me to do so. Wearing this shirt, which is like a second skin to me, is a source of pride for me and my family.
We are on the right path and we have to carry on working like this.
We want to keep it and nourish it even more until the end of the season.”– Frank Kessie
AC Milan are in contention for their first scudetto since 2011, they are still unbeaten in Serie A with 8 wins in 10 matches and have qualified for knockouts of the Europa League. With AC Milan on a high flying season, it is highly unlikely that Rossoneri let go of one of their key players.
