Arsenal will return to Premier League action with their first opponents being Bournemouth. The club action continues as the international break is now over.
The Gunners will face the Cherries at Vitality Stadium on 19th September. Mikel Arteta and his men are on a winning streak. They would look to continue this form. A win straight away after the international break will be a huge confidence boost for the team.
Arsenal defeated Southampton 3- 1 in their last Premier League fixture. The Gunners were superior in possession and shots on target in comparison to Southampton. Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka were the goalscorers for the club.
Bournemouth have had a mixed start to their 2024-2025 campaign. They lost their last Premier League match 1-0 against Leicester City. A win at home against Arsenal would be a strong continuation of their campaign.
Coach Andoni Iraola will be confident that his men will win against the Gunners at their home stadium. Bournemouth currently sits in 13th place in the English League’s table with 8 points. The competition will be tough but not impossible for the Cherries.
Arsenal are on the third position of the table with 17 points. They sit just below their title arch-rivals Manchester City. The one major concerns for the Gunners are injuries. It would be interesting to see how Mikel Arteta deals with these setbacks.
Injuries are a big problem for Arsenal
The primary problem for Arsenal is their injured players. Mikel Arteta faces serious pressure as he has ahead on choosing the squad members for their next match. They face Bournemouth on their return to Premier League action.
Gunners captain Martin Odegaard was injured in September during the international break. The midfielder injured himself in Norway’s Nations League game against Austria. He is expected to be out of the squad till November due to an ankle ligament injury.
The international break has been harsh on Arsenal players. In the recent break, two of the Gunners are now injured. Bukayo Saka was injured when England faced off Greece in the Nations League. The youngster limped off the pitch just after halftime because of a hamstring issue. Saka is in doubt of joining the squad against Bournemouth.
Gabriel Martinelli is the second player that was injured in the international break. The Brazillian played for 5 minutes in Brazil’s match against Chile. He was wearing a calf bandage after the World Cup 2026 qualifying match according to TNTSportsBR. The Brazil medical camp stated that the winger has suffered an Edema.
Kai Havertz and Thomas Partey also withdrew from the Germany and Ghana squads for their national duty. There were concerns for Havertz due to knee injury. Partey and Havertz are no fit and are available for selection in the match against Bournemouth.
All eyes on Kai Havertz?
One of the most promising players that Arsenal has showcased this season is German sensation Kai Havertz. The youngster has scored 4 goals with one assist in seven games for the Gunners.
There are plenty of injury concerns for the club. The manager has thinned the squad to choose his final squad for their next match. Kai Havertz is the player that all the Gunners fans will have their hopes on. The former Chelsea man has not disappointed the manager or the fans this season.
Mikel Arteta has also planned on Havertz filling in Martin Odegaard’s role. Kai is a flexible player and can fill in the gaps left by Odegaard. The 25-year-old has been seen playing in the midfield during training sessions. He is an exceptional playmaker and can find gaps to ease the gameplay.
Arsenal have come very close to winning the Premier League title for the past two seasons. They fell just short of three points from current title holders Manchester City. The Gunner’s boss Mikel Arteta is confident that this campaign will be a trophy-winning season for them.
