Arsenal vs Paris Saint-Germain: Mikel Arteta masterclass

Arsenal took on Paris Saint-Germain yesterday in thier first home game of Champions League this season. Mikel Arteta was able to guide his team successfully to the victory. Gunners defeated PSG by two goals and claimed all three points.

Gunners scores both goals in the first half itself. In the 20th minute Leandro Trossard was able to assist Kai Havertz who opened the scoring. In the 35th minute Saka scored from the free kick to double the lead.

Later in the second half, Mikel Merino made his Arsenal debut as he replaced Thomas Partey in 64th minute. He was looking good and seems like he is ready to start the next match for Arsenal.

PSG were able to dominate the game with 65% ball possession. They also had more shots (10) than Gunners (6) but were not as clinical as hosts. Gunners had 5 shots on target whereas PSG had only 2.

PSG also had upper hand in passing as they completed 578 passes with 90% accuracy. Gunners only completed 289 passes with 81% accuracy.

Mikel Arteta deserves a lot of respect for winning the game by 2 goals despite having only 35% ball possesion. His main weapon was his defence and ability to win the duels.

Gunners won 19 tackles with 68% success rate whereas PSG won 13 with 59% success rate. Gunners also made 10 interceptions, 1 block and 15 clearances.

Gunners have now claimed their first victory of Champions League and are on 8th position in the table. Arteta will like to try finish above 8th position so that his side qualifies directly into round of 16 in this newly updated format.
