Arsenal were showing interest to sign one Spanish player on loan this window. They were keen to bring him to North London as a temporary solution. However, they failed to get the deal over the line.
Gunners entered this transfer window with a big hope of signing some attacking players. They were linked with many big names but it proved too hard for them to sign anyone due to being in the middle of the season.
As a result, Gunners ended the transfer window without making any signing. Besides them, only Liverpool and Newcastle are the English clubs who didn’t make any signings in this window.
Arsenal made only one offer for Ollie Watkins. They were offering £40 million for the Villa striker which was quickly rejected by Unai Emery’s men. Other than that, they did not advance in any other deals.
Arsenal were interested to sign Alvaro Morata
According to The Athletic, Gunners were interested to sign Alvaro Morata on loan. At the time of facing Girona, Gunner held talks with Joan Garcia’s representatives. The North London club were keen to sign the Espanyol keeper in summer but the deal failed due to some reasons.
Arsenal are still interested to sign Garcia this year and hence were in talks with his representatives. During that time, Gunners also showed interest in Alvaro Morata who is represented by the same people. They were planning to sign Morata on loan until the end of the season.
But, Arsenal were beaten by Galatasaray in the pursuit of Morata. They convinced the 32 year old to join them on loan to pair him with Victor Osimhen. This will be the sixth club for whom Morata will play in his career. He can be sold in summer as he has fallen out of favor at AC Milan. The 32 year old has scored only 6 goals in 26 games this season.
