- Forgotten Arsenal star Takehiro Tomiyasu is believed to play important role for Gunners
- Former English football player heaped praise on the Japan international
- The 26 year old is injured and now there are some news regarding his return
Arsenal signed Tomiyasu from Bologna in 2021. Since then the 26 year old has played a crucial role for Gunners whenever needed. He has played in variety of positions across the backline.
Tomiyasu has played 84 matches for Arsenal. He has been able to score 2 goals and pick 6 assists too across those games. This season, the Japan international has been injured and Gunners have felt his absence on multiple occasions.
How important is Takehiro Tomiyasu for Arsenal?
Former English Player Darren Bent recently spoke very highly about Tomiyasu. He said that the 26 year old is very important for Gunners. He added that Arsenal fans know his value as well but rival fans do not want to accept that.
“If Tomiyasu is fit, he can play in multiple positions. Everytime, he never lets you down. He doesn’t give you a 10 out of 10, that’s just not him, but he can give you a 7 or 8, which is more than adequate” – Bent speaking to talkSPORT.
Lastly, Bent said that rival fans do not understand how important Tomiyasu is and hence play down his injury. But, the former Aston Villa star makes a lot of sense if we witness how Arsenal have performed this season.
Gunners have been tested very much this season. They had faced many injuries which then required players like Partey to play as defender. If Tomiyasu was fit, none of this would have happened and Gunners could have been in a better place.
The Japan international is still away from return on the pitch. But, he is working hard and recovering well which is a very good news for Arsenal fans. He can then cover in all of the defensive positions and help Mikel Arteta to ease the injury concerns.
