As per MARCA, Real Madrid have proposed a contract to Marco Asensio and have reached a partial agreement with him. Despite rumors of a move to Barcelona constantly circulating, Asensio has maintained he wants to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu until the end of the season.
Reports from the Spanish publication claim that discussions over a new contract are already underway, and some aspects of the agreement have been reached, but some issues still remain.
Real Madrid and Asensio are in agreement regarding the duration of the contract, according to the report. Neither party wants to end the partnership, and the club has offered the winger an extension until 2027, which he is willing to accept.
Will Asensio stay at Real Madrid?
Despite this, there are still some disagreements over Asensio’s wages since he wants more than Real Madrid is currently offering. According to the report, the Spanish international wants to resolve his future before getting married on July 7 in Mallorca.
Asensio recently spoke about his future plans:
“Things are being discussed, we’ll see where it goes, I’m focused on myself and the next game. Hopefully, everything will come to fruition.”
“I want to renew and stay at Madrid for a long time, but it’s not something that depends only on me. For me, the most important thing is sporting matters and being happy.”
Asensio’s fate depends on whether the two parties are able to resolve their financial differences in the coming months. This season, Asensio has made 22 appearances across all competitions. During these appearances, he scored three goals and assisted five more.
