Aston Villa are eyeing a loan move for Phillippe Coutinho and they are in talks with FC Barcelona. The Villans have turned their focus on the Brazilian who is not experiencing a good time at Catalan. Villa manager Steven Gerrard is reportedly keen on reuniting with Coutinho as both of them have played together for Liverpool and Gerrard has seen him closely. The 41-year-old’s relationship with Coutinho can help Aston Villa land the brazilian into their team.

Philippe Coutinho has a good experience of playing in the Premier League. The 29-year-old was an important player for liverpool and he was getting better until FC barcelona came calling. The La Liga giants acquired the services of Coutinho by paying a whopping amount of £142million in January 2018. He had a decent time at Camp Nou as he won 2 La liga titles (2018 and 2019), the Copa del rey (2018) and the Spanish super cup (2018).

However, Coutinho was out on loan to the Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich for the 2019/20 season. The brazilian had a very good at the german outfit and scored 8 goals by making 23 appearances. He was a also a part of the Bayern Munich team that demolished barcelona by 8-2 in the 2019/20 UCL quarter finals. Coutinho scored a brace against his parent club and he went on to win the UEFA Champions League with Bayern Munich.

Philippe Coutinho’s experience in the premier league can get him out of the camp nou. A number of clubs in England are also exploring the possibility of signing the 29-year-old. The former liverpool man wants to go back to england and sign for an ambitious club with a realistic project where he can play regularly.

The brazilian is set to a make a return to the Premier League club by this weekend. Aston Villa are one of the six english clubs interested to sign the Barcelona midfielder. Coutinho has found the back of the net 28 times by making 105 appearances for Barca. However, he has only made 16 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona this season. He still has a contract until 2023 at the camp nou but he is already looking for an early exit.

“There are lots of clubs interested in signing Coutinho, including six Premier League clubs, as well as clubs abroad. But he wants to come back to England and to return to the Premier League.”

Sky Sports Journalist Kaveh Solhekol added 

“I’m told no club is in pole position at the moment to sign him. I don’t think he knows where he’s going, but he’s got lots of options and his representatives are speaking to different clubs. We’ve seen his move to Barcelona hasn’t worked out, it’s been very stop-start. He wants to go somewhere where he can settle and play regularly.”

Aston Villa have made a provisional enquiry to Barcelona about Coutinho. While Aston Villa’s hierarchy will try to avoid a bidding war with other clubs. While the Brazilian’s wage demands could also be significant but Steven Gerrard is a keen admirer of Coutinho as he played alongside him at Liverpool for two-and-a-half years.
