Aston Villa will be aiming to strengthen their squad before the season closely monitoring the transfer market moves and options for themselves.
As of now, most of the time has been given to Unai Emery to put him in a position to build the best squad from the previous endeavor. The Villians aim to find an even better and more intense season. The latter finished fourth in the standings last term.
Although it’s clear that Emery and co will have their targets – that is for sure but the camp will definitely keep an eye on other transfers and opportunities too. Especially rival clubs hoping to get low-cost, risk-free transfer opportunities.
Let’s take a look at the opportunities missed or yet to come for Aston Villa.

Fans’ favorite move out
Aston Villa won’t be able to sign Federico Chiesa as the latter looks set to depart Juventus for Roma. Moreover, the deal will see another fav favorite player Tammy Abraham going away from the West Midlands. In an exchange deal between the two Serie A Clubs, both of the players will move away from Villa.
Abraham became a fan favorite after an impressive run in 2018/19 during his loan period with Villa. Rumors indicated the return of the Englishman this summer. However now it has become clear that Juventus and AS Roma are striking a deal to exchange the players as per Calcio Mercato.
Juventus who have put Chiesa on sale seems to have a clear target – to get a quick move and replacement of the Italian winger. And as it seems, their main target is Jadon Sancho of Manchester United.

It is important to understand that although any player who shows great performances in highly competitive leagues is a good target, but that doesn’t make “that” player an automatic fit for the team. Therefore, Emery has to consider every aspect as he prepares the side to also face the best in the Champions League.
Stating that, Chiesa is a good pick taking his performance in Serie A and with Italy into account. However, that doesn’t mean he will be automatically be a good pick for Villa. We believe that the Villians can look elsewhere as they look to expand their attacking talent.
Now talking about Tammy, the guy is too injury prone these days. Seemingly that’s the reason clubs aren’t going after him right now. So, it would be better to let the two Italian clubs go on with their deals. Aston Villa could look more in an out and out striker for transfer signings like Ollie Watkins.
Jaden Philogene ain’t returning to Aston Villa
The future of Jaden Philogene is a rather inriguing. The English footballer who once was a star icon for Villa youth doesn’t seem to be returning to the side. Philogene is exploring interests from other Premier League clubs.
The 22 year old left Villa last year to get play time joining Hull City. There, Philogene managed to score 12 goals while providing six assists last term. Thanks to that, latest reports indicate likes of Crystal Palce, Everton and Ipswich Town are in line to acquire his servivces.
When asked if Villa should be concerned of their rivals for signing the 22 year old winger, broadcaster Dan Bardell told Villa News:
“I think Villa are done with him. I really like him and he’s a good player and had a great season with Hull.
“Villa are in the Champions League now and have kind of accelerated away from him now. I think he would be better suited to someone like Everton or Ipswich to allow him to apply his trade in the Premier League.
“Even with the Barcelona links, I think he’ll definitely be playing in the Premier League next season but it won’t be with Villa I wouldn’t think.”
