As the summer transfer window for the Premier League clubs is going to open on Friday, Villa is ready to make a swap deal with Italian giants Juventus. Aston Villa and Juventus are close to finalizing a swap deal involving Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz, an American international Westen McKennie, and former Chelsea academy player Iliang Junior.
The Brazilian midfielder is one of the key players to the Villa’s success in reaching the Champions League ahead of Spurs and Manchester United last season. Luiz joined Aston Villa for 15M in 2019 from Manchester City. Since then, the 26-year-old has enjoyed a resurgence with the premier league club and made 206 appearances for Villa. Last season Luiz gave his career-best performance, scored 10 goals, and registered 10 assists in all competitions to help Villa finish fourth position in the premier league.

Will Douglas Luiz Join Juventus?
Juventus is looking for a new central midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window. Aston Villa and Juventus are ready to make a swap deal. Juventus is willing to give 20M plus Westen McKennie and Iliang Junior to Aston Villa. But Villa still wants around 50M with all those two players. The Brazilian midfielder agrees to join the old lady. According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus has discussed all the personal terms with Douglas Diaz. The Brazilian Midfielder will join the old lady shortly after the opening of the summer transfer window.
What will Aston Villa Get In Return?
In return for Douglas Luiz, Villa will get the American international Weston McKennie and English youngster Samuel Iliang Junior. Mckennie has premier league experience because of his six-month loan spell with Lead United for six months in 2023. The 25-year-old central midfielder made 38 appearances for the old lady and registered 10 assists in all competitions last season. Mckennie provided three assists in four Coppa Italia matches for Juventus. Juventus went on to win the Coppa Italia after beating Europa League champion Atalanta by 1-0. Aston Villa feels McKennie is the perfect replacement for Douglas Diaz.
Villa will also get an English youngster, Samuel Iliang-Junior. Samuel Iliang-junior used to be a Chelsea academy product before joining the Juventus youth set-up in 2020. The 20-year-old made 36 appearances for Juventus u19 in the 21/22 season before moving to the senior squad. Last season, the Englishmen appeared 27 times for the old lady, scored one goal, and registered two goals in all competitions. Villa believes that Samuel will add some extra options on the left side.
Back in March, Villa published its finances for the 2022-23 season and confirmed a massive loss of around 120M. The club is committed to long-term and sustainable future development. In the meanwhile, villa is also trying to improve the squad for their Champions League journey and upcoming seasons. Selling Luiz while adding two more players would benefit Aston Villa after their massive loss.
