Aston Villa keen to sign top-performing Chelsea striker

Christopher Nkunku is currently on fire for club and country. The 26-year-old did not enjoy a great debut season. Injuries would really hold him back. But, he has managed to bounce back in some style this time around. He already has 8 goals in 12 appearances this season. Moreover, he also recently scored for France. We all know what he is capable of when playing at his best. It seems like he is finally in a good place. But, he is not exactly a part of the A team under Enzo Maresca. As a result, Aston Villa are keen to sign the Chelsea star.

Nicolas Jackson leading the line

23-year-old Nicolas Jackson is starting over Christopher Nkunku. Maresca favors the former striker more. He is young, quick, agile and fit and also performing at great levels this season. He has already managed to score 4 Premier League goals. So, one can understand why Maresca won’t bench him. But then, the 26-year-old is also turning a lot of heads with his performances. He is making a strong case for himself to be a part of the first-team. So, lack of game time may actually drive him away from the club. It will be interesting to see where his future lies.

Aston Villa want Christopher Nkunku

As per birminghamworld, Aston Villa might make a move for him in January. Former Villa striker Dean Saunders wants to see the 26-year-old under Unai Emery. He believes that the Frenchman will earn a starting place into the Villa lineup easily. Although, that is a pretty bold statement. Especially considering that Villa already have the likes of Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran. But, we have also seen Chelsea linking to Jhon Duran. So, a swap deal involving Christopher Nkunku could also be in order. But, as we see it, for now, the move seems highly unlikely.
