Aston Villa are very close to sign highly rated young midfielder. The player is being looked upon by Arsenal who were already in talks. In addition, Man City are also willing to sign the midfielder.
Arsenal are keen to sign some midfielders this summer. They are set to lose both Thomas Partey and Jorginho as free agents. This will open up space in the middle of the park. Gunners have Martin Zubimendi as their top target but want to add one more midfielder.
One of the players being heavily linked with move to Emirates is Sverre Nypan. He is 18 years old midfielder from Norway who currently plays for Rosenborg. He had an amazing last season where he scored 8 goals and picked 7 assists in 29 games.
Nypan mainly plays as central midfielder. But, he can also feature as holding and attacking midfeidler when needed. Earlier, he was in England when he held talks with multiple clubs from Premier League.
Man City are aslo keen to sign Nypan. Firstly, he will be signed by Girona which is sister club of City. Later, the 18 year old will be brought to England. But, Villa are now confident to land Nypan handing both Arsenal & City blow in race.

According to David Ornstein, Villa are confident to land Nypan this summer. They are working to close the deal in the coming days. Transfer fee is still not agreed between the clubs and the personal terms are also yet to be discussed.
Nypan will have a big say in deciding his future. As of now, he has more chances to play regularly at Villa than both Arsenal and City. But, playing for Gunners or City will provide the 18 year old with regular Champions League football. It will be interesting to see which club will the Norwegian prefer to join.
