ATK Mohun Bagan 1-0 Bengaluru FC Match Analysis:

Both the teams were similarly attacking minded and started the game on a good pace but Mohun Bagan soon took the game from Bengaluru’s hand thanks to their three forwards who were creating a lot of trouble for Bengaluru’s defense with their midfield dominating Bengaluru’s midfield, which made them better throughout the first half.

ATK creates their first chance as Garcia receives a pass from Roy Krishna on the left edge of the box and lofts it in the middle for Manvir but Bheke intercepts the ball and clears

Bengaluru was maintaining a high line which made a lot of space for Roy Krishna to run in behind. But because of Juanan’s good positioning, Roy Krishna was being neutralized throughout the first half.

But in the 33rd minute, the Australian forward cuts in from the left goes past two Bengaluru players and takes a stunning shot from the edge of the box which goes straight into the goal as ATK breaks the deadlock.

The second half wasn’t much different from the first one, although had much more chances and attacking prowess but as the game continued  Bengaluru started to look less effective and the Mariners secured the win with their one goal.

Post-match Comments:

“I think it’s impossible to win every match. The teams are more balanced and it’s very difficult for all teams to keep on winning three points,”

“The idea in football is to get three points. I cannot play thinking about the possibility of drawing or losing.”

– Antonio Habas

“ATK Mohun Bagan have a team with very tough players. We know about them; big bodies and playing with a high tempo. We saw in their game against FC Goa how their players play as a compact unit and try to take advantage of counterattacks and open spaces,”

“team was champion for a reason. They know how to defend and how to be dangerous in their attacks. We have to create enough chances to score because they are very good defensively, they have conceded the fewest goals so far. They employ a very good defensive structure and we will try to beat them,”

– Carles Cuadrat
