About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

It is reported that Atletico Madrid has joined the race for signing Rodrigo De Paul this summer transfer window.

The 26 year old joined Udinese for €3 million from Valencia in the summer of 2016. He has proved a lot in his 5 years stay at the club, from being the mainstay in the midfield as a utility player to being the captain who can lead the team fearlessly.

During his 5 years, the Argentine has 182 appearances while scoring 34 goals and providing 36 assists in all competitions.

Currently, Udinese sits at 12th position in Serie A but Rodrigo’s contribution as a midfielder is commendable. He has scored 9 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions with two games remaining this season.

This impressive form has earned him the interest of some big clubs such as Liverpool, PSG, Juventus, and now Atletico Madrid has also joined the race to sign the utility midfielder.

Rodrigo is under contract until June 2024. But reports suggest Udinese are willing to let their captain leave this summer and they have valued the player at €40 million.

Rodrigo would be a great addition for Atletico Madrid

He is a quick and agile utility midfielder who can play in both central midfield and attacking left-winger.

The Argentine is creative and has an excellent vision as his passing is extraordinary. He takes his time to analyze and makes passes that wreck the whole defensive structure of the opposition team.

With the ball, he threatens the spaces with intelligent passes and sublime through balls as the wide midfielders or the forwards make runs, his leadership quality is also commendable.

The introduction of Rodrigo in Atletico would be a great advantage for them as it can strengthen their midfield more. With his flexibility of the position, he can be used very efficiently in the pitch.

It is no doubt that a midfielder of Rodrigo’s quality will undoubtedly be the right choice for Diego Simeone. It would also be easy for Rodrigo to adjust in Atletico as he has already played in La Liga earlier in his career.
