Atletico Madrid leading the race for Hector Bellerin’s signature

According to several reports from Spain, Atletico Madrid are interested in bringing the Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin this summer. Diego Simeone is looking for a new right-back as Kieran Trippier has desired to leave Spain next season, as he is feeling homesick.

Bellerin started his football career in Spain with Barcelona, following which he was transferred to the Arsenal youth team in 2011. The Spaniard was regular in the Under-18 and 21 since joining the Gunners. However, he has sent on loan to Watford to gain some first-team experience before becoming a regular for Arsenal.

Since debuting for Arsenal’s first team Bellerin has gone to appear 239 times over his 7 years stay. He was the first choice right-back for both Arsene Wenger and Unai Emery in the team. However, his form fell after suffering a ligament injury in 2019, and his following years was harsh as he lost his speed and ability.

The Spaniard also failed to impress his current boss Mikel Arteta and lost his right-back spot to Calum Chambers. Following this situation, Bellerin has desired to leave Arsenal after his 7 years long service. The Gunners have also agreed with the player and listed him for transfer by valuing Bellerin for €20 million.

Despite his poor form over the past seasons, the Spanish defender has able to attract some elite European Clubs to sign him. The list includes the names of Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-German, and Real Betis. While it is believed that Atletico are leading the race for Belllerin as Simeone is facing an uncertain future with Trippier.

Atletico Madrid sees Bellerin as an ideal replacement for Trippier

Atletico Madrid ended their season on good terms as they went to lift the La Liga title, by beating the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Diego Simeone was able to get his hands on the league trophy after 7 years. Simeone went to appreciate the hard work of his players for playing as a unit and not giving up till the last moment.

Following their form last season, Atletico doesn’t need many changes in their squad as all the players played impressively. However, the league winners need to get their attention on the right-back spot for next season. As their star right-back, Kieran Trippier has desired to leave Spain next season, feeling homesick for his family in England.

As Trippier expressed his feelings for returning to England, Manchester United approached Atletico to sign the defender this summer. Following which Simeone jumped into the transfer market to find a replacement for Tripper.

And as per the latest reports, Atletico has found an ideal replacement for Trippier by targeting Hector Bellerin. The league winners are currently leading the race for Bellerin and are ready to offer €20 million to Arsenal. However, they might face competition from Real Betis and PSG in order to land the Spanish right-back.

The French are interested in Bellerin for over a year as they were close to signing him last summer. Whereas, Betis offered a loan deal to Arsenal for signing Bellerin in this summer transfer window. However, it seems Atletico might sign him as they are the only team who agrees with all the terms that Arsenal have offered. So, let’s see if Bellerin will return back to Spain and join Atletico Madrid for his next adventure.
