Badiashile might leave Chelsea only after playing for a year

Chelsea are ready to sell Benoit Badiashile after buying him only a year ago.

After another disappointing season, Chelsea have sacked Mauricio Pochettino and appointed Italian manager, Enzo Maresca. Chelsea president, Todd Boehly has decided to again spend a good amount of money in this summer transfer window to somehow improve this team.

After the 23/24 season ended, Brazilian legend, Thiago Silva, has left Chelsea to join his country club Fluminense where he pairs up with Marcelo. This left a huge hole in the Chelsea defense due to which the Blues are looking for good defenders to fill that hole.

Chelsea’s approach to improve their defense

The Blues have not wasted any time for signing a defender. Tosin Adarabioyo, who played for Fulham last season, was bought by Chelsea as a free agent. The former Manchester City defender was bought away by Chelsea instantly after the season had ended. The Chelsea sporting directors and board were very happy and delighted with the signing of Tosin.

With the signing of Tosin, it could mean by some players might get replaced. They could be either benched or sold to a different club. One unexpected name that came up out of nowhere was Benoit Badiashile. He was brought to Chelsea last season from AS Monaco.

Just like his Blues manager, Mauricio Pochettino, Badiashile could also move out in a bitter way. The 23-year-old French defender was from French club AS Monaco for a value of £35m.

Maresca is hoping that his defence will improve with the signing of Tosin. On the other side, it is tough to find reasons as to why Badiashile would be shown the exit from the Blue side of London. Along with Badiashile, Trevoh Chalobah is also rumoured to be sold by Chelsea in the coming summer transfer window. The defender, who has been called ‘fantastic’ by ex-Chelsea manager and legend Frank Lampard, will not be in the plans of the new manager.

Will Chelsea regret the exit of Badiashile?

Badiashile is one of the players who performed outstanding, especially as the season was coming to an end. Many times, he was considered the main unit of the defense line. Controlling offside traps, marking defenders and staying alert for any counter attacks, he was ready for them all. But with the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo, the French defender’s time at Chelsea has been threatened. However, if we go by numbers, it’s very head to head competition between the two defenders.

According to Benoit Badiashile’s former Monaco manager Joao Tralhao, Badiashile is one of the coldest defenders who knows what he must do in order to not concede any goal.

“In terms of personality, he is very cold. He does not shake if he is playing against Mbappe or Neymar, if the stadium is empty or full. He is a very balanced boy. His character is outstanding. He focuses on what he must do to perform. It is one of his best qualities.”

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was also very much impressed with what Badiashile brought on the table. It could be huge blunder if Chelsea let go of this young promising defender.
