The 23/24 season for football was a pretty exciting one. France Football will once again be crowning the best player of the year in the upcoming month of October. With the 30-men list of nominees out, football fans are keen to know the favorites for winning the Ballon d’Or 2024. There is no set criteria for winning the trophy. A player has to win both at individual and team levels to put forth a real case. Also, votes are taken into account and play a vital role in the decision making. Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi did not make the cut for the first time since 2003. So, there is a high chance that we may see a new face winning the trophy.
Ballon d’Or 2024: The favorites
Vinicius Junior is definitely one of the top contenders. He was excellent last season. The winger helped Real Madrid to UCL win and the La Liga title. Likewise, Jude Bellingham is also in the running. He was brilliant in his debut season with the Los Blancos. Also, he helped England to the EURO’24 finals. Man City’s Rodri is very well in the mix. He played a key role in helping Pep’s side to a 4th-in-a-row Premier League title. At the same time, he was crucial for Spain in their EURO 2024 win. These three are the top favorites to win the Ballon d’Or 2024.
Who failed to make the cut?
Many good players did make in to the Ballon d’Or 2024 nominations as favorites. But, still some of the impressive players were shocking left out. As per nytimes.com, Jamal Musiala, Serhou Guirassy, Lucas Hradecky, Virgil van Dijk, Julian Alvarez, William Troost-Ekong and James Rodriguez could have been a part of the nominations. Surprisingly, Adomela Lookman managed to make the list. He was exceptional in the UEL final for Atalanta, scoring a hattrick against Leverkusen. But, other than that, he did not have the greatest of seasons. Nonetheless, the race at the top is still a close one. No one can say who will win with absolute certainty. Fans are eager to know the outcome.
