Barcelona and Xavi are on a mission this season. The Catalans have been making brilliant signings in every position this summer. It feels like it would not be long until Barcelona will be back among the best clubs in the world. The season is going to be long and the Blaugranas are looking to prove their doubters wrong. From defense to midfield to attack, it finally feels that Barcelona have a worthy squad capable of playing at the highest level. Xavi will be hoping that his side will compete with the best in Europe, unlike other seasons.
Xavi made it clear to all players that he does not consider a part of the club. These include Depay, Braithwaite, and Dest. These players have received the green light to leave the club. Offers have come in for neither of them which leaves contract termination as the only option. One name that pops up is Miralem Pjanic. The Bosnian had convinced Xavi that he can the perfect backup to Sergio Busquets. He even settled for a lower salary to help with other registrations.
But it now looks like Pjanic will be leaving Camp Nou. Gerard Romero says that Pjanic is on the exit and is very close to leaving. His agents met with Barcelona today to study the offers that the club have received. One of the clubs was a Saudi Arabian club that offered Pjanic a lot of money. This is very surprising as Xavi publicly admitted that he is happy to have Pjanic in the team. But Pjanic is disappointed with the time he has played so far. In 3 league games, he has played no amount of minutes for the club.
Can Barcelona replace Busquets next season?
Barcelona fans can start crying from this moment. Sergio Busquets will be leaving next season for the MLS. The veteran midfielder refused a contract extension from Barcelona as he feels his time is over now. It will really be a mammoth task for the Catalans to replace Busquets. A player so unique, a player of the alien species as they call him, Busquets will leave the club as the Greatest Defensive midfielder of all time.
Frenkie De Jong was tipped to replace Busquets but his offensive output is much more important than his defensive ones. Nico Gonzalez is the player most naturally and technically similar to Busquets. The midfielder is currently on loan at Valencia for his growth and will return next season. He might be in the best possible shape to replace the legendary Spanish Midfielder. It would really be a sad day the day Barcelona’s captain leaves.
