Barcelona are likely to make a move for the chosen midfielder

Barcelona had one of the busiest summer transfer markets in its history. The club signed almost all the chosen profiles except one. Bernardo Silva, the Portuguese midfielder, was the desired profile for the dynamic FC Barcelona midfield.

The club made every effort possible to sign the player from Manchester City. However, it was clear early on that any move for the potential signing of the player would be dependent on Frenkie De Jong’s future and the financial restrictions. In the end, nothing materialized. De Jong’s possible move away from the club fell short. Manchester United and Chelsea made their stand with serious interest in the player; however, the player was adamant about staying in Barcelona while succeeding under Xavi. The club also failed to release big earners to make space for registering Silva in the wage bill. The player himself clarified his future in Manchester City since none of the interested clubs made an offer for him. PSG also wanted the player.

Barcelona is planning a move for Silva in January

Barcelona was left unsatisfied when their pursuit of Silva fell apart. According to a report by Sport, FC Barcelona would renew their efforts to sign Silva in January when the winter transfer market opens. The Blaugranas are in a much better financial state now. This is why they would make an effort to sign Silva instead of waiting for the summer transfer market in 2023. The report, however, doesn’t specify if PSG would still linger on to sign Silva. The Paris champions have signed several top midfielders, and with Neymar performing at the highest level again, any move is unlikely, at least in January.

Although now, De Jong is speculated to stay in the club for the future. So even if Silva arrives, it would not be at the expense of De Jong leaving.
