Manchester United had locked their eyes on the Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati earlier this summer. According to Sport, Fati was to be bagged in at a price tag of £133 million by the Red Devils with the Blaugrana’s Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes trying to tie the knot. Unfortunately, Barcelona was not interested in letting go one of their shining stars.
Earlier, Ed Woodward and co were in the hunt for their prime target Jadon Sancho. Borussia Dortmund had priced their key player at £108 million and were not least interested to sell for anything below the price value. United shifted the dream of landing the player in summer after multiple bids for him, even though the player was keen on move to Old Trafford.
By the end of deadline day, United managed to squeeze young stars Facundo Pellistri and Amad Traore through the door. Neither have been involved in the first team still, and Amad Traore is expected to arrive at United in January from Atalanta BC.
Manger Ole Gunner Solskjaer was expecting a sudden improvement to his starting XI recently, while the youngsters remain highly talented and the future for Manchester United. Jadon Sancho was Ole’s immediate solution to the problems at United. With that seeing a halt, Ansu Fati had become the new option for the club.
Barcelona was in a drought of cash in summer so they could not spend much to fix their stumbling squad. Yet they managed to halt any preceding in Ansu Fati transfer to take place.
Lionel Messi’s future was uncertain at the point as the wizard was linked to many big clubs out of which Manchester City were rumoured to be the expected race winner. Barcelona couldn’t afford to lose their 18-year-old Spanish international star as well.
Bori, the father of Ansu Fati, has recently stated that his son is happy at Barca.
“Ansu is very happy, he is at Barca, the best club in the world.” Bori Fati said. “I’m calm. He is happy at Barcelona.
“He is 17, he is enjoying himself, he is happy at Barcelona and not thinking about anything else. It’s very clear what Ansu wants.”– Bori on his son’s future
Ansu Fati is in great form this season with 4 goals in the opening 7 La Liga fixtures. However, Ansu has attended a meniscus injury and will be out for four months.
