Neto Murara has officially made the switch from Barcelona to Bournemouth. The Brazilian keeper was long expected to move away from the Camp Nou. He will now be flying to England for his medical after Bournemouth confirmed the transfer. The transfer took place after Xavi allowed Neto to leave as he knew Neto would not get playing time with Ter Stegen ahead of him. Inaki Pena and Arnau Tenas from the academy will be the backups to Ter Stegen.
Neto joined Barcelona from Valencia in 2019, with Cillessen moving the other way. The Brazilian was always aware of the role he had to play at the club. But in the 3 years spent at Barca, Neto has only made 21 appearances for the Catalans, with Ter Stegen being the number one. The German has had a drop in his form, but then also Neto never really got the chance to stake a claim.
Fulham were also interested in signing Neto but they managed to get Bernd Leno from Arsenal. It is Bournemouth now who are doing all they can to get Neto. Inaki Pena is already decided to be the backup for Ter Stegen. Furthermore, Barcelona are trying to offload the deadwood from the club to make room for the new signings that have been made. The signings still need to be registered and the club has to free up wages before they can do so.
Marc Andre Ter Stegen Still The Trusted One By Xavi
Marc Andre Ter Stegen has not had the best couple of seasons at Barcelona. The German keeper has not been at his best for the Blaugranas. He has come into a lot of criticism for his performances and errors costing Barcelona. But this season seems to be a redemption season for Ter Stegen. He has got his knee surgery done and will be looking to lead the Catalans from behind.
Xavi still trusts Ter Stegen and feels that the German is too good of a keeper to let go. He is undoubtedly one of the best keepers in World football going through a rough time. Barcelona hopes he will be able to shake off and start the new season in a brilliant manner. Xavi has insisted that his style of play requires a goalkeeper to be extremely good with the ball at his feet. Ter Stegen is one of the best in the world with the ball at his feet and Xavi insists he is going nowhere.
