According to several reports, Barcelona are keeping Matthijs de Ligt on their list for next summer, as they are thinking of a swap deal. The Catalans are so desperate to sign the Dutch defender that they are willing to include Marc ter Setgen and Memphis Depay in the deal. Yes, as per reports, Barcelona will be offering their two stars to sign De Ligt next summer.
Matthijs de Ligt has emerged as a top target for big European clubs since his two successful seasons with Ajax. Following which Juventus signed the dutchman for a price of 75 million in 2018 after beating Barcelona to the race. But after two seasons with the old lady, De Ligt might again be on a move.
Juventus have considered De Ligt as part of their future plans as Giorgio Chiellini is nearing his career end. Following which the old lady will do anything to keep their future star defender. However, it might be hard as two big European clubs are already keeping tabs on the dutchman. First, Chelsea as the blues are in need of defending options due to their aging backline. And second, Barcelona who are the admirer of Matthijs de Ligt since 2019.
As per reports, Barcelona are thinking of signing De Ligt next summer as they are ready to let go of their two players. The Catalan have included Ter Stegen and Memphis Depay as part of a swap deal which will see them land the Dutchman.
Marc ter Setgen has failed to step for Barcelona in some big over the last few years and the club no longer sees him as a better player. While including Depay looks something sketchy, as the forward just joined the club this summer. And he is already showing his talent in the upfront. However, it’s all up to Barcelona’s plan, and what they will do. So, let’s wait and see if Barcelona will really sign Matthijs de Ligt by offering Ter Stegen and Depay.
