Barcelona interested in a new left-back

Julian Araujo

Barcelona is in the transfer market looking for a new left-back. They have many options available to replace the aging left-back Jordi Alba. Both, Nicholas Tagliafico and Alejandro Grimaldo have been mentioned in the past. And their search has led them to the La Liga.

Galan is on the radar of Barcelona

Some options like those of Nicolás Tagliafico, Alejandro Grimaldo, Alex Moreno, and José Luis Gayá are on one side. But the main target for Barcelona is Celta Vigo left-back Javi Galan. He is regarded as the ideal replacement for Jordi Alba. A fee of between €8 million and €10 million is enough for the services of Celta Vigo’s 27-year-old left-back.

In the last two seasons, Javi Galan’s demand has increased as he first performed well in a forgettable season for SD Huesca. They were relegated from the La Liga last season, but Galan joined Celta Vigo and stayed in the league. Galan’s move has proven to be a successful one for him since he has been an important figure in his side’s success.

Moreover, Galan has rarely missed a game for his side and provided three assists in his 33 appearances so far. He has proved to be a versatile player in his last two seasons. His brilliant performances for Celta have tempted Xavi and Barcelona to sign him. He has a contract with Celta Vigo till 2026 but he could join Barcelona next season.

Barcelona is looking for a rebuild under Xavi next season. They have already secured the futures of La Masia wonderkids Pedri, Arujao, and Ansu Fati. They are also looking for securing the future of 17-year-old Gavi in the coming days. Moreover, Xavi would love to replace Jordi Alba with the likes of Galan. His La Liga experience will definitely help Barcelona to challenge for the title next season.
