Barcelona has confirmed Sergio Busquets’ departure from the club. The player has decided to leave Catalonia at the end of the season and go on a fresh adventure elsewhere. Busquets’ probable departure could be devastating for some Barcelona players, especially Jordi Alba. The two players had been teammates at Barça for many years and had won numerous awards together.

Barcelona left back Jordi Alba pens an emotional message
To honour the friendship, Alba posted an emotional message on Instagram to Busquets, praising the player and his family for remaining with the squad for so long. Barcelona left back also wished him success on his new venture.
“Friend, after so many experiences together, what can I tell you that you don’t already know? You leave home leaving an indelible mark on the history of Barça. More than 700 games and a fundamental part of so many titles and nights of glory that all the Culers. We will always remember,” Alba wrote.
Busquets is one of Barcelona ‘s most prominent players in club history, having appeared in 719 competitive matches for the club. In terms of appearances for Barça, he is third behind Xavi (767) and Lionel Messi (778). Alba further says:-
“It has been a great pride to share these years by your side in the field, and immense luck to enjoy your friendship and that of your family. We love you very much and we wish you good luck in what is to come! Thank you for everything”.
According to media reports, Busquets’ departure does not necessarily imply that he will join a Saudi Arabian team. The midfielder appears to be considering a move to the United States, with Inter Miami standing out as a potential destination. Meanwhile, Alba’s future has been cast into doubt as Busquets announced his intention to leave the club. With Barcelona owing Alba a fortune in deferred payments, the idea of a summer exit for the player was mentioned during a recent meeting with the player’s agents. It remains to be seen whether the meeting will be beneficial.
