Barcelona are are having a really good time at the top of La Liga as the world cup goes on. The majority of players represented big nations and others are getting well-deserved rest. On the other hand, Real Madrid are back to where they left their last season. Los Blancos are 2nd in La Liga and also have made it to the round of 16 pretty easily. The team is looking stronger than ever with Benzema also returning from injury. It is fair to say that they had an easy UCL group as compared to other teams. Barcelona are the only team who have scored more than Los Blancos. But staying at the top will take more than just goals for Barcelona.
Apart from all this action on the pitch, Real Madrid and Barcelona had successful transfer windows in their aspects. Casemiro left for Manchester United but Ancelotti has new signing Tchaoumeni to praise. Barcelona signed Lewandowski who is delivering for them as expected. Tony Rudiger signed as a free agent for Los Blancos and has settled in well. Ancelotti and Xavi both are adamant that the team’s quality must be constantly improved. With the world cup on the horizon, players will feel tired eventually and injuries will happen.
Reports say that Barcelona and Real Madrid are targeting players in the January window. While Real Madrid’s season has pretty much been the perfect one, it cannot be said the same about Barcelona. The Blaugranas have crashed out of the UCL. Their domestic form is very impressive though as they took advantage of Real Madrid’s slip-ups. Now, Xavi and Laporta are lining up a number of moves that they will try to pull off in January or the summer window later on. Xavi also will have his full squad available after the world cup. This will help him assess things better and make better decisions about the squad.
Raul Jimenez might be a priority for Barcelona
Barcelona with how good their squad is, are still looking for signings to make this year. As per reports, they are looking for a backup striker in the market and Raul Jimenez has emerged as an option. Wolves are looking to part away with the 31-year-old striker because of the arrival of Matheus Cunha.
Since the 18/19 season, Jimenez was a regular for Wolves and is one of their best players. But since his horrific injury 2 years back, he has not been the same. His performances have dropped massively and thus Wolves are keen to get rid of him. Barcelona’s Luuk De Jong returned to Sevilla after his loan spell and is now playing at PSV. So a backup striker like Raul Jimenez will provide good squad depth for Xavi.
