Barcelona manager Xavi has a clear idea about Pedri

Pedri

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has clear ideas on how to manage Pedri’s game time. Pedri is only 19 years old. It feels like he has always been a part of the club’s midfield. His intricate instinct to do the right thing and his ‘pausa’ set him apart.

Pedri has participated in all nine of Barcelona’s games this season. This includes seven in the league and two in the UEFA Champions League. He started as a substitute in two of them. They were matches between La Liga Santander teams, Mallorca and Cadiz.

The coach views Pedri as one of his team’s most crucial players when starting a crucial match. At this point in La Liga Santander, the Canary Islander is the Barcelona player with the most passes. Pedri usually plays in the left interior role. This is the position where Pedri demonstrates a solid bond with Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski has nothing but praise for the young midfield maestro. In a recent interview with Karnal Sportowy, he said;

“I’m not talking about the skills that Pedri and Gavi have because that would be difficult to improve, but about the progress of their mentality.”

“The team is full of young players. There are a couple of experienced players like me who have the role of helping these guys to reach the highest level.”

Barcelona manager Xavi has a special rule for Pedri

The most recent information provided by Mundo Deportivo indicates that Xavi has a rule in place to rest the Spanish international before important matches.

The Blaugrana legend applied that rule against Mallorca and rested the 19-year-old against Mallorca.  This was done to protect the players against overload ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League match between FC Barcelona and Inter Milan.

This wasn’t a coincidence because Pedri was taken off later versus Cadiz earlier this season, just before Barcelona’s 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich.
