Barcelona offers a loan deal to Leicester City for signing Philippe Coutinho

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

According to several reports, FC Barcelona have offered Leicester City to sign Philippe Coutinho on a loan deal this summer. The Foxes are one of the three clubs currently in talks with Coutinho’s agent over a possible transfer. The Catalans will be offering a 60-40% wage split in which Barcelona will be paying 40%.

Coutinho joined the Spanish giants back in 2018 from Liverpool with a high price of more than €100 million. However, he has done a little to prove that price tag besides his name. The Brazilian had a solid start at Camp Nou but that turned into a nightmare in the second of the 2018/19 season.

Following which he was sent on loan to Bayern Munich in the 2019/20 season where he had a decent run by winning the champions league with Bayern. As he returned from the loan deal Ronald Koeman gave him another chance to prove himself. But the same happened as he was sidelined for the second of the season due to a knee injury. And he was replaced by the youngster Pedri with regular starts.

Coutinho has recovered from the injury and is ready to be in action again but Barcelona have no intentions to keep him. The club wants to cut their budget and wants to send Coutinho on a loan deal with a 60-40% wage spilt. And currently, three premier league options are open among which Leicester City is at the top for signing Coutinho.

Leicester will be wanting an attacking midfielder as they face an uncertain future regarding James Maddison and Dennis Praet. Following this Leicester manager, Brendan Rogers sees Coutinho as a viable option. Brendan has already managed Coutinho earlier in Liverpool days and would be happy to reunite with him at Leicester. So, let’s wait and see what the future holds for Coutinho.
