About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

FC Barcelona has released an official club statement against the acts on manager Ronald Koeman. The manager was met with an attack from a section of the fans when he was leaving the stadium after their El Clasico defeat.

Ronald Koeman has been under immense pressure, with the performance of Barcelona not living up to the expectation. The 2-1 defeat at home to Real Madrid has further made the situation worse. Fans have been protesting against Koeman and this culminated yesterday with some of them blocking his vehicle.

Barcelona has quickly come up with a statement condemning the acts of the fans. They have taken to social media to release statements. The club has also stated that they will tighten the security so that the incident that happened to Koeman does not repeat.

BARCELONA CONDEMNS FANS THAT ATTACKED KOEMAN

The Blaugrana have been struggling on and off the field for some time. The financial situation of the club has made it hard for the clubs to challenge other top sides in the market. The mismanagement also resulted in club legend Lionel Messi leaving the club for free this summer.

On the field, Barcelona has been struggling to have consistency. From 9 matches in La Liga this season, Barca are currently 9th in the table with just 15 points. They also suffered back to back losses in Champions League, only managing a 1-0 victory against Dynamo Kyiv so far in the group.

As result, a good performance was very important for the club and manager Ronald Koeman against Real Madrid. However, the 2-1 defeat at home has made the relationship with fans even more volatile. But this does not give the fans the right to attack Koeman personally and the club rightfully has backed the manager.

“FC Barcelona publicly condemns the violent and disdainful acts that our manager experienced when leaving the Camp Nou. The Club will take security and disciplinary measures so that such unfortunate events do not happen again.” – read the statement by Barcelona in their Twitter account.

With his defeat to Real Madrid, Koeman became the first Barcelona manager to 81 years to lose the first three El Clasicos. Pressure will be truly on Koeman as there will be demand from all corners to turn around the results.
