Barcelona set to reveal their first signing in the summer transfer window

FC Barcelona plans to pursue many targets during the summer transfer window. However they await confirmation of the viability plan to ensure they will be able to sign these targets. However, as recent disclosures reveal and depict, Barcelona may be looking forward to make their first signing of the summer as soon as they receive the green light from La Liga.

Barcelona might announce the signing of Inigo Martinez very soon

According to Ferran Correas of SPORT, FC Barcelona might reveal the signing of Spanish central defender Inigo Martinez as a free agent soon as his previous deal with Athletic Bilbao expires. The 32-year-old defender is now injured as he enters the final month of his current deal with Athletic Bilbao. The defender is certain to have already signed a preliminary agreement with FC Barcelona and will shortly be arriving at Camp Nou. According to the same report, the player has already completed his medical for the Catalan giants. FC Barcelona is now waiting for La Liga’s approval of the Financial feasibility plan. This will allow them to publicly and officially announce his signing for the club. At present, La Liga want a significant salary reduction.

Following approval, the club will be able to register both the new defender. In addition They can complete pending contractual renewals that have not yet been renewed. Furthermore, to avoid any long-term issues with continuity and registrations, Barcelona has put a condition in Martinez’s contract that allows him to leave on loan for a season if any undesirable scenario arises.

According to reports, the Spanish defender will earn an equivalent wage as he earned at Athletic Bilbao. The reported pay for the player during his two-year time at FC Barcelona is approximately €9 million. Moreover, Iñigo Martinez is in a hotel in Barcelona, awaiting the announcement of his transfer.
