Barcelona star striker impresses with his work ethic

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Barcelona sits on top of the league table, tied with Real Madrid. The goal difference of 18 is the difference is the reason separating the two clubs. The club has accumulated the highest number of goals scored with 19 and the least goals scored in the league. The players are enjoying an incredible start to the season. Lewandowski, in particular, has hit La Liga with a storm. Many predicted Lewandowski would play a massive part in the season, but the impressive start has definitely surprised everyone. The Polish striker is the top scorer in the league, with nine goals to his name in only seven games.

In the rather dull win against Lewandowski’s goal was the defining factor. The goal signified his skill set; he is more than just a target man upfront.

On the return from international duty, Xavi handed the players a much-needed day off on the 28th of September. Lewandowski, however, turned up at the club gym. “No excuses on days off, time for training,” were the words he wrote in his Instagram feed.

Barcelona’s coach is full of praise for Lewandowski

After the match against Elche, in which the 34-year-old scored a brace, coach Xavi made some interesting statements to Marca.

“What has surprised me the most about Robert Lewandowski is his human aspect. He works hard, he is very professional, but he is very humble. We did not have any doubts about his scoring skills.”

“We knew he was going to score and make a difference, but his human aspect really impressed me in a positive way. He is very, very humble. He is really committed and hungry. It is great to have a player like him.”

Lewandowski’s importance for FC Barcelona would only increase as the season progresses. With the squad now bearably thin with injuries, he has to remain on top form ahead of the massive October schedule.
