It’s been a thrilling Copa del Rey draw, with several compelling ties. The league will be Xavi Hernandez’s priority, but Carlo Ancelotti will be optimistic about winning the cup as well. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid had a tough matchup in their Copa del Rey.

In a game that went into extra time, Barcelona defeated Intercity 4-3 on Wednesday. A goal by Ansu Fati in the 103rd minute ended Barcelona’s three-match losing streak against the third-tier side. On the other hand, as a result of a beautiful Rodrygo strike, Real Madrid progressed 1-0 against Cacereno.

Copa del Rey: Barcelona and Real Madrid matchups

It will be interesting to see how Barcelona will fare against Ceuta, the bottom-placed team left. After defeating Elche on Tuesday, Primera Federacion hopes to add another La Liga opponent to its list of victories.

A draw for Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid is also on the cards, but it is likely to be more challenging than Barcelona’s matchup. The Blancos face Villarreal this afternoon in league play. The men of Quique Setien will hope to advance against a side they haven’t lost at home in six years.

The away tie against Levante poses a tricky challenge for Atletico Madrid. Sevilla will travel to Alaves, while Real Betis will face Osasuna. As Valencia hosts Sporting in Gijon, Real Sociedad hosts Mallorca, and Athletic Club faces Espanyol in Bilbao, Real Sociedad hosts Mallorca.

In due course, exact dates and times will be announced for the matches, which will be played from 17-19 January.
