Barcelona to sell their third player this year

Julian Araujo

Barcelona is set to part ways with Rey Manaj, who couldn’t settle in Catalonia. Manaj will be the third player to leave Barca this year.

The Albanian couldn’t find a spot in Xavi Hernandez‘s long-term plans. Rey Manaj is the third player to leave the Spanish giants followed by Phillipe Coutinho and Ferran Jutgla. The 25-year-old was loaned out to Spezia last season & came back for the 2021-22 season.

However, the club has a £1.3 billion debt that is to be cleared. The Blaugrana needs to offload a lot of players in order to make that money and Rey Manaj is just the player for that.

Next stop, Watford.

Rey Manaj is set to represent the Hornets in the Premier League. Barcelona and Watford have come to terms in discussing the youngster’s potential. There are chances Manaj can join the Hornets on a long-term deal or can buy him. As of now, the English side isn’t agreeing to the price tag on his loan spell which forces Barca to reduce his fee.

Early in 2020, Barça had spent €2 million to acquire Manaj’s participation. Last season, the Camp Nou was able to recuperate about £280,000 thanks to his loan to Spezia, and the Spaniards will be eager to squeeze out the remaining cash by selling him to Watford this July.

Should Manaj sign for Hornets this summer?

Watford is a decent team in the Premier League for a long time now. Sadly the club has seen a relegation to 2nd division. However, it doesn’t stop the Hornets to produce exceptional talent to compete in the Prem.

In conclusion, Rey Manaj is a player who needs to step down from Barcelona’s standards. In other words, he needs to start fresh at a lower level, like Watford, and make his way to the top. Watford could be a lesson for the 25-year-old before he plays in Europe’s finest again.
