Barcelona want another swap deal with Italian giants Juventus

It is reported that Barcelona is willing for another swap deal with Juventus. After the exchange of Miralem Pjanic and Arthur Melo in the last summer window.

The Catalans are once again looking for a midfielder-to-midfielder exchange. They are targetting the 23-year-old Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.

Barcelona is willing to swap Miralem Pjanic who they signed last year in September. The Bosnian has been unimpressive at Barcelona.

Pjanic, who swapped the ‘Old Lady’ for the Catalans, has failed to impress in his debut season at Barcelona. He lacks game time with only 28 appearances in all competitions.

He also has not registered a single goal or assists to his name this season. The Bosnian could be on his way back to Turin as the Uruguayan midfielder arrives in Spain.

Pjanic has a contract with Barcelona for the next four seasons, until the end of the 2023/24 season. He has a huge buy-out clause of €400 million.

Barcelona making a wise decision about Pjanic-Bentancur swap deal?

Rodrigo Bentancur joined Juventus from Boca Junior in 2017, and since then he has been a mainstay in the midfield for Juventus with 152 appearances.

But he has failed to impress this season as he has only 4 assists with no goal in 41 appearances. But Barcelona could be going ahead with the swap deal despite his poor performance, as he can be a utility player for them with his ability to play anywhere in the midfield.

Barcelona is clearly regretting their decision about letting Arthur Melo leave, as he could have been a player of quality in the midfield and could have been of more use than Pjanic who is getting old and past his prime.

Barcelona has clearly many options in the midfield, but they might be replacing Sergio Busquets in the team with the signing of Bentancur as the Catalan legend is getting old and heading towards retirement.

The swap deal will be a cost-effective way for the Catalans as they are currently going through a bad financial phase due to the covid-19 pandemic, and they would be using the money to sign a forward for next season.

With all things considered Barcelona should go for the swap deal as they would get smoothly rid of Pjanic in exchange for a more utility player Rodrigo Bentancur.
