Barcelona willing to release Franck Kessie this January

Barcelona are determined to cash in Franck Kessie in the upcoming transfer window. Barcelona despite their financial issues won the race of signing Kessie at the end of the 21/22 season. But the 25-year-old didn’t become a regular player for the Catalans. He was only restricted to start 5 matches including La Liga and the Champions League. A further eight outings have come as a substitute as he played only 487 minutes for Barcelona this season.

Being just a few months into a four-year contract, Kessie is expected to leave Barcelona as soon as January. Barcelona is willing to listen to any offers coming for the player n the next two months. Barcelona’s financial situation might also improve as there is a possibility of a positive impact since Kessie was a free transfer.

Kessie has only 13 games in his name for Barcelona, starting only 2 in La Liga and 3 in the Champions League. The Ivory Coast midfielder scored his first goal in Barcelona’s 5-1 win over Viktoria Plzen. It seems like Franck Kessie is not in the plans of Xavi. The Barcelona boss prefers to play Busquets, Pedri, and Gavi in the midfield. Hence leaving out Kessie and even Frenkie De Jong in the process.

Aston Villa are one of the clubs who are interested in Kessie even though not a single offer has come from their side. Even Inzaghi’s Inter Milan are tipped to go for the midfielder who helped their rivals AC Milan win the Serie A last season.

But Barcelona president Joan Laporta is not planning on any January signings. He wants to focus on improving Barcelona’s financial condition. An exit for Kessie will free up space for Barcelona. This will make it easier to finalize any contract negotiations with younger players like Alex Balde.
